In order to investigate if values among stakeholders are shared or not, you can use some practical collaborative tools during stakeholder meetings:

The Assumption Scanner is a tool to explore people’s assumptions related to a project, by looking at the design challenge or the vision from different perspectives with important project stakeholders. Knowing assumptions is key to ensure that your work is in line with the expectations and needs of the people you are designing for or with. This tool gives you the opportunity to look for your blind spot by making your ideas explicit and asking for open feedback [1].
The Future Newspaper tool helps kick-start the critical process of setting a shared vision by asking participants to imagine a variety of desirable futures. Then, by working backwards from those visions, participants can articulate the principles, values and conditions which might help lead to those outcomes. These can then become discussion points which the community can vote on to create actions and interventions [2].
The Commons Mapping tool is a large wall canvas which openly allows people to log contributions that they are willing to make to the campaign, such as resources, time, or even specific skills. Facilitators can fill out the fields in the chart according to the specific needs of the project. Participants’ contributions can be mapped using sticky notes on the big target where they will also find an instructions sheet and a call for participants to provide their name and contact details. Crucially, the closer to the centre the citizens place their post-its, the more time they feel they can dedicate to their contribution. When complete, the Commons Mapping tool provides group awareness of the resources within their community, as well as any gaps that might need to be filled. This tool was initially developed at Knowle West Media Centre as part of The Bristol Approach to Citizen Sensing [3].
The Miro’s Personal Values Discovery tool helps groups and teams to discover top personal values using the personal values cards developed out of the University of New Mexico. The exercise asks participants to focus introspectively and identify the top five values that they hold most dear by choosing among a list of 82 and repeatedly filtering the options. Each round presents increasingly difficult decisions about which values to filter out. This forces you to ask yourself tough questions about your value system. Once you’re finished, you’ll be left with the values that are most important to you [4].
The Stakeholder Analysis-Value Alignment Matrix is a tool to assess the alignment of stakeholders to the values of the community. It is used to identify stakeholders who are aligned to the community values and those who are not [5]
